Picking a wedding venue is arguably one of the most important decisions you’ll make in planning your wedding. As the backdrop to your celebrations, it sets the tone, vibe, and overall experience of the day—bringing your vision to life beautifully and authentically. Here I’ve highlighted five of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues. It’s by no means an exhaustive list of the many fabulous wedding venues that Yorkshire has to offer but I’m happy to keep coming back to these five because they all have wonderful wedding teams, good light and spaces that are equally beautiful indoors & outdoors.
Grantley Hall
Grantley Hall is an elegant, five-star country estate in North Yorkshire, steeped in rich history and timeless elegance. It’s a true haven of luxury and exudes a sense grandeur that’s impossible to ignore. I absolutely love the palpable sense of being somewhere really special that you get as you travel down the driveway with Grantley Hall right there. Its impressive architecture, manicured lawns and expansive woodland feels really special. There are numerous options for ceremony spaces both indoors and outdoors. but my personal favourite is on the lawn, with Grantley Hall as the stunning backdrop.
Middleton Lodge
Middleton Lodge offers the perfect blend of elegance and charm, making it an unrivalled favourite for weddings. Whether you choose the stately Main House, in all of its beautiful Georgian glory, or The Fig House, which feels like an Italian villa nestled within an exquisite English walled garden, this venue is pure magic. (Trust me, in summer, when the garden is in full bloom, it’s HEAVEN ON EARTH!) What sets Middleton Lodge apart even further is its exceptional team of wedding coordinators. Utterly unflappable and effortlessly professional, they are the best team & will make sure your day unfolds seamlessly, leaving you free to soak in every moment of your celebrations.
Rise Hall
Not too far from Beverley, you’ll find Rise Hall. Inside, you’ll find soaring ceilings, beautiful architectural details, and an abundance of space to host celebrations of any size. Outside, the expansive lawn, shady woodland, and grand columned entrance provide a picturesque backdrop for your day. One of the things I love most about Rise Hall is how it effortlessly adapts to any weather—whether rain or shine, there are endless gorgeous spaces to enjoy, ensuring your day is as stunning as it is unforgettable.
Saltmarshe Hall
Set in East Yorkshire, Saltmarshe Hall is a stunning blend of stately elegance and beautifully maintained gardens. The staircase is iconic (my favourite location for an emotional yet organic first look), the rooms are all bright & airy and the entire space feels elegant whilst still being somewhere you feel very comfortable. With a variety of ceremony spaces that are all different in light, space & vibe, Saltmarshe Hall is as versatile as it is breathtaking. It’s the perfect backdrop for couples looking to pair classic grandeur with a sense of serene charm.
Thicket Priory
Thicket Priory is a hidden gem that feels a little fairytale-esque. Once home to nuns before it was renovated and became a wedding venue, it’s a labyrinth of rooms with secret staircases that make it fascinating to explore, discovering all the best spots. The high ceilings and light filled rooms are a wedding photographer’s dream. Not to mention how the sun tracks round to the front of the building, bathing the facade in golden light, making it the perfect setting for romantic, golden-hour portraits.
